  • "As an IEP coach, Heather brings a vast amount of professional experience to her role. We first got to know Heather as a fellow parent in our son's Pre-K class and a teacher at his school. Although we didn't have children in her class, the parents were kept abreast of different programming through a newsletter and we were amazed at how creative Heather was at engaging her students and their different needs. She was incredibly close with the parents of her students and built strong partnerships with them to ensure each child in her class had the right personalized support and was set up for success. When we decided to move our son from private to public school, Heather immediately recommended that we get the ball rolling on the ISP/IEP process to ensure our son had the appropriate accommodations in place on day one. Heather was a trusted coach throughout the entire process, first by raising our awareness of the process and the need to start early, then by coaching us through the IEP draft, and finally by making suggestions to proactively reach out to school teachers and specialists. Without Heather's help, we would have been lost through the process. Thanks to her coaching, our son entered public school with his accommodations in place, ensuring he was set up for success from the start of the school year and easing a lot of his and our nerves! "

  • "Marie has been tutoring our two kids for over a year and a half and we have seen tremendous progress in their organizational skills, reading and writing levels, math abilities, and overall study habits. They genuinely enjoy working with her as she actively engages with them to complete their work. On a typical day when Marie arrives to work with our kids, she helps them organize their efforts for not only the day, but the week ahead. If she identifies gaps in understanding from what was covered in the classroom, she will also work with them by providing additional instructional review. We have sometimes arranged additional sessions with Marie for increased support when major projects or assessments are looming. And if her scheduling permits, she tries to accommodate whenever possible. Marie is also a great help in facilitating open communication with teachers and taking an active role in IEP meetings to ensure teachers and the Child Study Team are aware of additional areas where support is needed. She regularly communicates through email with teachers and, when appropriate, assists my children in advocating for themselves through writing emails and asking their teachers questions to clarify assignments or obtain extra help. She is a great resource to us as parents for navigating the IEP process at school. Marie is incredibly patient with our kids and dedicated to seeing them achieve their goals both short and long term. We feel lucky to have her!"

  • "My daughter, Adalynn, has been working with Marie for a little over 18 months, and in that time, there has been remarkable improvement in her ability to read. Adalynn was about half-way through the first grade when she started with Marie, but she was only reading at a Pre-K level. One of the reasons Adalynn was so far behind is because she struggles with an attention disability. One of things that amazed me from the start when observing Adalynn's early lessons with Marie, was Marie's ability to keep Adalynn engaged in a virtual lesson for an entire hour. Whenever myself or my wife would attempt to help Adalynn with a reading lesson, it seemed like we could not keep her attention for more than 10 minutes before she would lose focus and we would give up out of frustration. That is why I was so surprised to see her sit in front of the computer for a whole hour with Marie, which is a testament to Marie's ability to engage and connect with her students. Additionally, Marie does a great job of tailoring the lesson to Adalynn's specific needs. And the fact that Adalynn's reading ability has just about caught up to most of her peers, is a testament to the quality, effectiveness, and value of Marie's lessons. I highly recommend Marie Jarrett as a personal tutor for your children."

  • "Heather was instrumental as a guide and partner in helping us identify our son's learning challenges, having him assessed correctly and pursuing the appropriate school-based supports. For a parent unfamiliar with the potential diagnoses, systems and solutions - knowing how to navigate can be daunting and overwhelming. Someone with her knowledge, expertise and creativity was crucial to securing what our son needed to thrive as a student. She is kind and patient working with students, easy to work with on scheduling and logistics and always willing to lend and ear and offer up constructive advice. "

Heather’s proactive, personalized guidance made all the difference, helping us fully understand each step of the process. • "We first got to know Marie as our son's Pre-K/K teacher. She is an incredibly supportive educator not just for the students she teaches, but for their families as well. Marie's experience in special education enables her to help all kinds of learners. This was true for our son who has ADHD and was an early reader in Pre-K. Marie spent one on one time with our son to help him develop his word recognition and nurture his confidence early on in his reading journey. It's been 2 years since we first met Marie and we continue to reach out for her perspective as a trusted and valued educator."
